At first glance, most folks might look at a piece of hardware like this and assume it to be designed for some sort of horrifying 18 string chimera of an instrument, and while it certainly *could* be used that way, I'm happy to let y'all know that's not exactly my intention behind it.
While typical offset guitar hardtail plates have a single set of 6 string anchor holes across the middle, the Multi-break hardtail plate offers three separate anchor points per string to set the break-angle of each string over the bridge.
The set of anchors closer to the bridge gives the string a higher break-angle, which leads to greater downward force on the bridge and more snap, sustain and clarity, similar to the way the strings bend past the saddles on a telecaster. The furthest set of anchors, provide more of a traditional offset feel by giving the string a more shallow break angle, leading to less downward force over the bridge and more of a punchy but still slinky feel to the strings.
These plates are a drop-in replacement for any traditional offset vibrato unit and are cut from 304 stainless steel. This is currently a pre-order item, but once pre-orders close I'll be running them out to you as quickly as I can.
